“WHY WE NEED TO HOLD FORTH THE WORD”

Philippians 2:16; Amos 8:11-13; II Timothy 4:1-5

I.                   IN THE WORD WE FIND CHRIST

A-Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

B-Acts 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

II.                IN THE WORD WE FIND SALVATION

A-Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

B-I Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

III.             IN THE WORD WE FIND FAITH

A-Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

B-John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

IV.              IN THE WORD WE FIND LIFE

A-Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

B-John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

V.                 IN THE WORD WE FIND GROWTH

A-I Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

B-II Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
