“WHO AM I?”II Chronicles 2:1-7
Introduction- Solomon, David’s Son was determined to build a temple for the Lord. He in doing this recognized how great that God was, and when he realized who God was, he said to him…WHO AM I to build a house for the Lord? He didn’t say look at me and what I have been allowed to accomplish. He didn’t say I’m David’s Son, but he recognized that God should be exalted and no matter what we do, we are never Good Enough to Brag on ourselves.
We need to examine ourselves and ask the Question, WHO AM I?
MOSES DID…Exodus 3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
DAVID SAID WHO AM I?
I. (I Samuel 18:18) “And David said unto Saul, Who am I? and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?”
II. (II Samuel 7:18) “Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
III. (I Chronicles 29:13,14) Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
WHO AM I……
· THAT JESUS WOULD BECOME A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS FOR (Psalms 8:5; Hebrews 2:7--Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:)
· THAT THOUGH JESUS WAS RICH, HE BECAME POOR (II Corinthians 8:9--For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.)
· THAT JESUS, THOUGH HE DID NO WRONG, WOULD GIVE HIS LIFE FOR THE SIN’S OF THE WORLD (I Peter 2:21-24 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.) |
