WHAT ABOUT THE HOME

Introduction: There are two basic institutions upon which God put His Seal of Approval. The First Institution is the Home, and the Second Institution is the Church.

The Devil has attacked our Homes since the very beginning as we can see when we Examine:

I.  THE ORIGIN OF THE HOME  (Genesis 2:21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.)

            C-Man’s Contravention (Transgression) (Genesis 3:6, 7; Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by

one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

II.  THE ORDER OF THE HOME (Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. )

A-Husband Will Give an Account to God as the Head of the House

B-Wife Will Give an Account to God as to whether she was

Submissive or Rebellious

C-Children Will Give an Account to God as to whether they were Obedient and Respectful to their Parents

III.  THE OBSTACLES OF THE HOME

A-Recession from the Church

1-It won’t hurt to miss one time.

            2-I am so Spiritual, it won’t hurt me.

            3-I need to spend time with my Family.

Illustration—Being Absent from Church will cause Problems in the home. It gives an unbalanced Spiritual Diet to the Body of the Family, and can cause all kinds of Sicknesses.

·         Discord

·         Division

·         Divorce

·         Death to all Spirituality

>>Heb. 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

>>Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

>>Psalms 122:1 A Song of degrees of David.  I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

B-Relationship is Cold—Church of Ephesus Rev. 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

·         Coldness at Home Spreads into the House of the Lord

Illustrate: Marriage is kind of like a HOT SHOWER. After you have been in it a while, it doesn’t seem so HOT.

·         Coldness is caused by a Lack of Freshness. When you get away from the House of God, where the Fire Started…Then the Fire will go out, and the relationship will grow COLDER and COLDER.

C-Rebellion of a Child—Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

>>When you begin to recede from attending church, and your relationships begin to grow Cold….Then you can look for your children to REBEL.

>>Families do not realize the danger of pulling their kids from church to church and not allowing any Root of Doctrine to Grow in them.

>>I have had folks to ask me, “Why did my son get on drugs? Why did my daughter get pregnant out of wedlock? In almost every case when I was questioned about these issues, the parents had never been grounded in a HOME CHURCH, or they had gotten miffed at the preacher…and got completely out of church.

Invitation: Are you thankful for your family? Do you have family that is not here this morning because of SIN? Come pray for them. Are you 100% Sure that you are Saved? If not, Jesus SAVES.
