II Peter 3:1-5 "Voluntary Ignorance" {TODAY’S SOCIETY)

Ignorant = To be unacquainted with, lacking knowledge; uninstructed / uninformed; untaught; unenlightened / Unknown / undiscovered; Lacking education or knowledge, unaware / blind.   Such as: Voluntarily- elective, unforced, choice, willingly ignorant of guilt and that without shame!

The kind of people described in the last days:

Scoffers = One that mocks, {Gal.6:7} doubters, agnostic.

1. They scoff at the word of God.

2. They scoff at religion, or better Christianity.

3. They scoff at the ways of good or Godly men.

4. They scoff at sin, Sinfulness & ungodliness.

Scoffers are in the chair of the scorner and are in the highest form in the devil's school.

These men scoffed at; namely, the prediction of our Saviour's coming to judge the world; they say, Where is the promise of his coming

However, God will laugh at their calamity, and mock when their desolation cometh.

[Pr 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;]

Willful Ignorance produces willful forgetfulness.

They were ignorant, {willingly} forgetting what God had done in the days of the flood!

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

2Pe 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: WILLFULLY IGNORANT OF…

I.                 THE CERTAINTY OF SCRIPTURE

·         Forever Settled

·         Psalms 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

·         Romans 3:4 .., let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, thou art judged.

·         The Word of God Is:

·         Inspired

·         Enerrant

·         Eternal---

II.             THE CALAMITIES OF SIN

·         Numbers 32:23 be sure your sin will find you out.

·         Romans 6:23   The wages of sin is death

·         Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived, God is not mocked: Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

III.         THE WAY OF SALVATION .

·         Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

·         John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

IV.            THE SHORTNESS OF LIFE

·         James 4:14 “..what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”

·         Job 14:1 “Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down, he fleeth as a shadow, and continueth not.”

For The Believer: {The Judgment Seat Of Christ}

2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

For The Unbeliever, {The White Throne Judgment}

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

1Jo 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
