"THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION EVER ASKED!" MATTHEW 27:22
"What shall I do then with JESUS which is called CHRIST?"
Our text records the most important question ever asked! The answer to this question holds the source of life and death! The person who answers this question right inherits Enduring Peace, Eternal Joy, and an Everlasting Home in Heaven! The person who answers this question wrong inherits the wrath of GOD in an awful Hell!
The Governor Pilate made the wrong decision concerning this great question.
His wrong decision was based upon the fact that he tried to be:
1. Politically Correct 2. Pleasing to the Crowd 3. Persuaded by the Carnal
So, as a result, he Persecuted the CHRIST!
May GOD help us not to make the same awful decision regarding this all important question!
1. It is a PERSONAL Question "What shall I do..."
2. It is a PARTICULAR Question "with JESUS which is called CHRIST"
3. It is a POWERFUL Question
What you do with JESUS is exactly what GOD will do with you! If you reject JESUS CHRIST, GOD will reject you! If you accept JESUS CHRIST, GOD will accept you! If you are ashamed of JESUS CHRIST, GOD will be ashamed of you! ***What should you do with JESUS CHRIST?
I. REPENT to HIM! (Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Vs 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. )
A. Turn from your Sin! (I Thess. 1:9 For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;)
B. Turn to the Saviour! (Acts 11:18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life , 11:21 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. , 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:, Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ., 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. )
II. RECEIVE HIM! (John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.)
A. As Saviour! (Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. I Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.)
B. As Sovereign! (Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.) *HE is LORD! (Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.)
III. REFLECT HIM! (Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven)
*BE a Good Testimony of JESUS CHRIST!
A. In your SPIRIT! (Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.)
B. In your Soul-Winning! (John 4:28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?)
*Dear Friend, please take the time to answer this question. What will you do with JESUS CHRIST??? |
