THE CALAMITIES OF COMPROMISING CHOICES  GEN. 13:1-13

Intro: Compromise has become a Way of Life in the United States, particularly among the church realm.

The Church looks and acts worldly, and the World is looking and acting churchy. No DISTINCTIVES anymore….”JUST PREACH/TEACH a POSITIVE MESSAGE.

We don’t want folk to feel uncomfortable in the church pew.

Compromise is the number one problem with our Churches and Pastor’s. It is Compromise that brought about:

• The False Doctrine of a Bloodless Salvation
• The False Perversions of our King James Bible
• The Failure of Parents in Society. (They offer their children several alternatives instead of a definite Right or Wrong way to Live.)

Let’s Examine some Calamities of Compromise while Expounding upon the text we Read in Genesis.

I. THE ROOT OF COMPROMISING CHOICES

A. Lot was Unconvinced in his Allegiance – Gen. 12:4 just a tag-a-long; not called

        B. Lot was Unwise in his Accumulation – Gen. 13:5

        C. Lot was Unsatisfied in his Aspirations – Gen. 13:10

        D. Lot was Ungodly in his Affections – Gen. 13:12

 II. THE ROUTE OF COMPROMISING CHOICES – GEN. 19:12-16

A. Lot was out of place – vs. 12  He didn't belong there; he was in danger from day 1!

                1. He sat in the gate vs. 1 (place of authority; dignity;

   acceptance)

                2. He called the men of the city brethren! vs. 7 (no relations at

       all!!)

       B. Lot was out of touch – vs. 13 Nobody could hear his or his

       family's plea for help! He had a serious wake-up call here, but he   

       didn't get back with Abraham.  He stayed in Sodom.

        C. Lot was out of control – He and all of his “stuff” couldn’t keep

         him safe; he was vulnerable.

III. THE RUIN OF COMPROMISING CHOICES

        A. Lot's Family

                1. He let his daughters marry two Sodomites! (vs. 8 says they were

    virgins, but vs. 14 says they were married!!)

                2. His family had no respect for his warnings – vs. 14 (mocked

   him)

        B. Lot's Foolishness

                1. He believed the warning, but lingered vs. 16

   2. He wanted to stay near to Sodom vs. 20

                3. He was content to stay in Zoar, which means 'insignificant'.

                4. He didn't keep his eye on his wife (she was behind him vs. 26)

                5. His wife became salt because he wouldn't be the salt in  

                Sodom!(Matt. 5:13)

        C. Lot's Fear

1. He did not believe God in vs. 30;' vs. 21 says he would be safe   

in Zoar

                2. He didn't stay where he knew he would be safe

        D. Lot's Failures

          1. He let his children control him; he didn't control them vs. 32; 35

          2. His compromise resulted in two heathen nations; Moab &

Ammon

Conclusion: Let’s not give in to COMPROMISE in 2007. Make your commitment to stand on this one thing all year long:

LET’S GET READY FOR HEAVEN IN 2007! DON’T COMPROMISE BUT STAND ON THE PRINCIPLES OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE.
