SATAN, THE MASTER OF EVIL John 8:44; II Corinthians 11:13-15 Introduction: Satan is the master of all evil. He is behind all of the evil and error. He is the greatest enemy of God and mankind. The Bible paints a black and deceptive picture of the Devil. He is called by the Lord a liar and a murderer. He is the great blinder of all people. II Cor. 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. He wants lost souls to die in hell. He wants the saved to be damaged & divided so they can’t or won’t do the work of the Lord. I. Satan, The Master of Evil-S: A.The S stands for sin. 1. What is sin? Sin is basically the breaking or violating of God’s law. I John 3:4-Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 2. Satan rebelled against God and sought to overthrow Him. Isa 14:12- How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. 3. Satan moves people to sin against God. Regardless of how he does it, he wants mankind to transgress & break the commandments of God. B The S stands for selfish. 1. Satan is self-willed and self-centered. He only wants his way. 2. As we study God’s Word, we learn that all of his activities against God are based upon getting even with God. 3. Satan’s destruction is sealed. He is busy now wrecking all that he can because one day it will all be over for him. 4. Some people imitate him with their attitude of it will be my way or no way at all.
C. The S stands for stubborn. 1. Sometimes we call others hard headed or abstinent who insist on getting or having their own way. 2. Satan will never change. He was created by the Lord to be a ministering Spirit. Something caused him to change. 3. He was beautiful and full of wisdom. The Bible tells us he was lifted up with pride. Pride is often the basis for stubbornness.
II Satan, The Master of Evil-A A The A stands for awful. 1. The only good thing ever mentioned about Satan is the way he was created. 2. All the Scriptures that describe him and his work is terrible and awful. 3. He is ugly, black, evil, and just horrible. B The A stands for anger. 1. The Scriptures indicate when Satan was cast out of heaven that he wrecked God’s creation. 2. Most of Genesis one is actually a restoration, not a creation. 3. Satan is the owner and chief operator of the world’s greatest wrecking company. C The A stands for arrogant. 1. How could anyone even dare to think, they could overthrow almighty God? 2. An arrogant spirit often thinks too much of one’s self and ability. 3. Don’t ever think you can defy God and not pay the great price for your arrogance!
III Satan, The Master of Evil-T: A The T stands for troublesome. 1. The Lord told Peter that Satan wanted to sift him. One writer said Satan hindered him. 2. Jesus said he is a liar and murderer. He not only does these things, he causes people to do them as well. 3. The Bible tells us that Satan and his people cause and are responsible for the spreading of false teaching. B The T stands for tormentive. 1. Satan torments us in three ways. He first causes a lot of doubt in our minds. 2. Secondly, he causes a lot of division. He is the great divider. Division causes torment. 3. Thirdly, he causes us to become dirty. Lives are tormented because of secret sin that is unconfessed. C The T stands for tempting. 1. The word tempt means to allure to evil or sin. 2. Satan is the great tempter of mankind. He appeals to the flesh and it’s lusts to attract us to sin. 3. James describes the process of sin in James 1:14, 15. Satan knows how to tempt us.
IV Satan, The Master of Evil-A: A The A stands for adversary. 1. Peter tells us that Satan or the devil is our adversary. I Peter 5:8 2. We are to fight or resist his work and influence in our lives. 3. Satan is the enemy of all people. He opposes us every day all day long. B The A stands for ambassador. 1. Satan wants us to be one of his ambassadors. He wants you to represent him and his kingdom. 2. He is the ruler of darkness. He specializes in deceit and dumbness. 3. He loves to get God’s people living his lies because he can discredit God, His work, and His people. C The A stands for alter. 1. He altered God’s Word in Genesis 3. He tried to alter God’s Word that is. 2. He wants us to alter and change from what God wants to what he wants. 3. Compromise by God’s people will cause lack of God’s power in our services and lives.
V Satan, The Master of Evil-N: A The N stands for nature. 1. We have a sinful nature. Eph. 2:1-3 We were born with it and we will die with it. 2. We have a natural tendency to sin. We lean toward sin because of the nature. 3. Satan works on this sinful nature. B The N stands for new. 1. There is something about new things that appeal to the sinful mind and heart. 2. Satan capitalizes on new things. New is not always good or better. 3. People are a lot like those on Mars’ Hill. They can listen attentively to anything that is new. C The N stands for now. 1. Satan also works on our weakness for the now or present time. 2. Many lives are ruined because people are more interested in the now instead of tomorrow. 3. People are loaded down with debts because they want something now. 4. The price for sin will be paid. You won’t want to pay, but you will. |
