OVERCOMING WHEN YOU ARE OVERWHELMED—Exodus 14:10

Introd:  In Exodus 13, Israel has just come out of Egypt after the blood had been applied to the door posts.  But God does not just save by blood, He saves by Power at the same time. Vs. 10---“And when Pharoah drew nigh…”

1-When God’s people are marching for God, the enemy will not be far away.

a-Christian and Church---I’m glad the Devil, the Modernists, and False Religion is against this church. Vs. 10---“…and they were sore afraid…” SOMETIMES GOD’S PEOPLE ARE OVERCOME BECAUSE THEY ARE OVERWHELMED.

2-They Blamed Moses—Always blame the leader for the situation. What about the overruling providence of God? He orders everything.

3-Vs 12—“…For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians…” Stupid Statements are despicable.

            a-I would have to give up so much to be SAVED.

            b-I am making it all right without the church.

            c-I don’t see any need in tithing. What do I get for my money?

4-Vs. 13—Fear ye not…Stand Still (No Arm of the Flesh)---See the Salvation of the Lord (Behold the Deliverance)---See them again no more forever (The Lord Shall Fight for You)---Vs. 14—What is the Devil, The World, and the Flesh when compared to the LORD?

5-“Go Forward”---Keep Marching---God is not going to pull down the mountains of next week until I come to them. God is not going to solve the problems of next year until I come to them. Vs. 16

I.                    KEEP YOUR FEET IN THE WAY OF GOD

What is the way of God?

A-Freedom from Egypt and journeying on to Canaan. Keep going—Don’t turn to the Right or to the left.

B-It is the way of Separation from Egypt.

      1-Egypt Socially—Don’t be conformed to this world. World’s

dress. Modesty is the dress code for the Christian. Liberals will say, “If you preach separation, you will lose people.”   I say, “Yes, you may lose people, but you’ll gain some as well.

2-Egypt Economically---Unequally Yoked

3-Egypt Religiously—Unequally Yoked—“I’m not to stay in a church that is riddled with Apostasy.

C-It is the way of Consecration to Canaan---Independent Baptist   have failed because they have come out of Egypt and stopped, Failing to go on. We’re to go into Canaan for real Revival.

II.                 KEEP YOUR FAITH IN THE WORD OF GOD—Vs. 15 “And the Lord Said”

A-Apostasy is Prevalent---“Some shall depart from the Faith”

1-Many churches that were full years ago, have emptied out.

2-Churches that were one time fundamental, have changed

their “Style” of Worship…”Praise and Worship” NIV, RSV, NASV, MICKEY MOUSE

B-Answer is Promises—Abraham at the age of 100, and Sarah at age 90 faced OVERWHELMING OBSTACLES.

1-Romans 4:20, 21 “He staggered not at the Promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.”

III.               KEEP YOUR FACE IN THE WILL OF GOD---Vs. 13 “…stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.”

A-Jesus-Lk. 9:51 “He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.”

1-That meant The Cross, Betrayal, Darkness of Gethsemane, Thirsting of Gabbatha, Suffering of the Middle Tree, but He “..Set His Face.”

2-To OVERCOME WHEN YOU’RE OVERWHELMED is to “Set a Target, a Goal, an Objective---Lord Keep me going.”

3-Jesus was Hated, Despised, Rejected, Misunderstood…”But He set His Face.”

B-The Closer Jesus got to conquering the Devil, the more aggressive the enemy became. If you feel Overwhelmed, you could be getting ready to Conquer your Enemy.  KEEP GOING.

IV.              KEEP YOUR FEAR IN THE WISDOM OF GOD Vs. 11-12 Their mistake was they thought God knew nothing about the Egyptians, the Wilderness, or the Red Sea.

A-God knows All about you.

B-God knows about the Red Seas, and the Egyptian Armies in your life.

Conclusion: When You Feel Overwhelmed, You Can Overcome If You Will Fear The Lord, Believe The Lord, And Believe God’s Man When He Preaches.  Vs. 31 They Feared the Lord & Believed the Lord, They Believed God’s Man, Moses…They Sang a Song of Victory. Exodus 15:1
