"I'VE GOT SO MUCH TO THANK HIM FOR!" (PSALM 100) KEY VERSE 4

Psalm 100 is a prophetic psalm.  It is one of the coronation psalms that anticipates the advent of the Messiah as King.  The first verse will surely be fulfilled in the Millennium when King Jesus will reign from sea to sea and shore to shore.  What the psalmist prophetically hears is the shout of the people at the crowning of the King.  King Jesus will reign in righteousness, and peace will cover the face of the earth.  Psalm 100 is certainly a chapter filled with instruction for God's children from Beginning to End

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."(James 1:17)

One of the ways that God's people can become more thankful is to think upon the blessings of God more frequently.  Each of God's people could certainly benefit from a personal time of thanks with our Saviour

I.  I AM THANKFUL FOR MY FATHER!

A.  THE GOODNESS OF GOD  "For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations." (Psalm 100:5)
1.  HIS ESSENTIAL GOODNESS

  2.  HIS EVERLASTING MERCY

  3.  HIS ENDURING TRUTH

B.  THE GRACE OF GOD--"But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus..."(I Peter 5:10)

C.  THE GIFT OF GOD--"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." (II Cor 9:15) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: is is the gift of God."(Eph 2:8)

II.  I AM THANKFUL FOR FORGIVENESS!---One of the most precious gifts that God gives to His children is the gift of forgiveness.  Thank God that His mercy is extended to unworthy sinners through the forgiving power of the Lord Jesus Christ!

A.  FORGIVENESS IS ACCOMPLISHED--"In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins."(Colossians 1:14)

B.  FORGIVENESS IS AVAILABLE--"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)

C.  FORGIVENESS IS AMAZING!--"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses." (Colossians 2:13)

III.  I AM THANKFUL FOR FELLOWSHIP!

          A.  FELLOWSHIP WITH THE SAINTS (PHILIPPIANS 1:5)

          B.  FELLOWSHIP AROUND THE SCRIPTURES (ACTS 2:42)

          C.  FELLOWSHIP IN THE SPIRIT (PHILIPPIANS 2:1)

IV.  I AM THANKFUL FOR MY FAMILY!  (AND FRIENDS)  (Proverbs 17:17)

                A.  THEY ARE LOVING.

B.  THEY ARE LOYAL.

C.  THEY ARE LASTING!

V.  I AM THANKFUL FOR MY FUTURE! God's people have a future to look forward to that is out of this world.  While the lost know nothing of eternal hope and expectation, the redeemed children of God live in blessed assurance that the best is yet to come!

         A.  OUR FUTURE IS ENCOURAGING!

         B.  OUR FUTURE IS EXCITING!

         C.  OUR FUTURE IS EVERLASTING!

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (I Thessalonians 4:16 - 18)

CONCLUSION: The Holy Scriptures exhort us to give thanks to God! "Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people." (I Chronicles 16:8)

"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  (Ephesians 5:20)

"In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (I Thess 5:18)

God desires that His people be a thankful people.  It is His perfect will that all of His children give thanks.  May the Holy Spirit of God remind us daily to give thanks to our Heavenly Father.  We have so much to thank Him for!
