IT’LL BE BETTER WHEN WE GET BACK HOME---Luke 15:11-24

Intro: Many Christians have gotten out of the will of God. They have made some wrong decisions that have left them without any HAPPINESS, HOPE, or a real HOME.  They have found themselves in a Spiritual Hog Pen, and would eat of anything that the World would give them, but the things of the World Fail to Bring Happiness, Hope, and There is no Home in this world for the Saved Person. A Prayer of REPENTANCE is necessary to get BACK HOME and to Experience the BLESSINGS of HOME.

JONAH--I examine the Life of Jonah as he strayed from God’s will. He ended up in the belly of a whale without any Friends, Family, or Funds.

  • Jonah 1:1 Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.3 But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
  • Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
  • Jonah 2:1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, 2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
  • Jonah 3:1 And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. 3 So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.
  • Jonah 4---God spared Nineveh after they REPENTED. Jonah didn’t like it at first but HE LEARNED TO LET GOD BE GOD.

SAMSON---I examine the Life of Samson. He ended up with no Vision, no Vitality, and no Vigor grinding in the Courts of the Enemy. When he prayed, his STRENGTH came back. HE SLAYED MORE IN HIS DEATH THAN HE EVER DID IN HIS LIFE.

  • Judges 13:24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
  • Judges 15:16 And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
  • Judges 16:1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her. 14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web. 20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him. 25 And It came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. 26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. 27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. 28 And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. 29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. 30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

THE YOUNG MAN IN OUR TEXT (THE PRODIGAL SON)---Then I examine the Young man in our Text, who left the Father’s House with plenty of Funds, Friends and Family standing with him; however, he left all of that for a life of Sin, Sorrow, and he found himself without any Stability.

When He came to Himself, He realized It could be better if he’d just go back home……
