I Shall Not Be Moved Proverbs 12:1-3
The Bible speaks of the "root of the righteous." Like a strong tree with a powerful root system, the Christian should not be moved from that which is right. Too often people take the song, "I Shall Not Be Moved", applying it to their lives in a negative sense. It is sad there are so few "moved" by spiritual things in our age and most do not seem to care they are in that kind of condition. · Some used to pray that do not pray–they have been moved. · Some used to outwardly praise God that do not any longer–they have been moved. · Some used to listen to God’s servants but now they turn a deaf ear- they have allowed the devil to move them from what is right. TOO OFTEN WE TAKE THE BIBLE LIKE WE DO A MEAL · What tastes good to us and fits our lifestyle, we accept, but · What runs cross-grain to the way we are living we reject. In a positive sense, there are some things we should not allow ourselves to be moved away from in our lives. I. Confidence In The Scriptures-Romans 15:4-For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.· There are those who deny the Scriptures · Some who twist the Scriptures · There are those who embrace the Word of God. · We should have confidence in the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God. · No modernist or liberal Bible teacher or preacher should be able to stifle what you believe about the Bible. II. Contemplation Of The Savior-Matthew 17:8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. · How important it is for the believer to keep his or her eyes on Jesus. Matthew 17: 1-13 Now the disciples beheld somewhat of Christ's glory, as of the only begotten of the Father. It was intended to support their faith, when they would have to witness his crucifixion; and would give them an idea of the glory prepared for them, when changed by his power and made like him. The apostles were overcome by the glorious sight. · Peter thought that it was most desirable to continue there, and to go no more down to meet the sufferings of which he was so unwilling to hear. In this he knew not what he said. We are wrong, if we look for a heaven here upon earth. Whatever tabernacles we propose to make for ourselves in this world, we must always remember to ask Christ's leave.
· That sacrifice was not yet offered, without which the souls of sinful men could not have been saved; and important services were to be done by Peter and his brethren.
· While Peter spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, an emblem of the Divine presence and glory. Ever since man sinned, and heard God's voice in the garden, unusual appearances of God have been terrible to man.
· They fell prostrate to the earth, till Jesus encouraged them; when looking round, they beheld only their Lord as they commonly saw him. We must pass through varied experiences in our way to glory; and when we return to the world after an ordinance, it must be our care to take Christ with us, and then it may be our comfort that he is with us. There are so many rivals for our attention and affection for Christ. III. Compassion Toward The Sinner- Jude said, "Some have compassion, making a difference" (Jude 1:22). Do not allow fear to keep you from reaching out to the lost sinners around you. IV. Co-operation With The Servants- · It is God’s genuine people who will co-operate with God’s men. · To reject God’s servants is to reject God, because God sends them to His churches · Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. · Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. V. Congregating With The Saints-The psalmist was glad when he was invited to go to the house of the Lord Psalms 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. "Glad" means to "rejoice–be joyful or merry." If you are able to be at church when services are going on and are not, you should feel convicted over it. |
