One became a Baptist preacher, and the other an infidel lawyer. The lawyer invited the preacher to spend a week hunting with him in his mountain cabin. The preacher knew the lawyer was an infidel, so he didn’t mention religion to him. When the day came for the preacher to be driven to the train to go home, the lawyer engaged him in a conversation. He said, “I understand that you are a minister of the gospel.” The preacher proudly said, “Why, Yes I am.” “Do you believe like other preachers?” the lawyer asked. He answered, “Well, I’m a Bible believer. I’m an orthodox, fundamental preacher.” The lawyer said, “Well, do you believe the Bible?” The preacher questionly answered, “Why yes, I believe all of the Bible.” “Do you mean to tell me that you believe this man Jesus, is God’s Son, and died to save sinners like me?” he asked. The preacher said, “You’d better know that I believe that.” The lawyer said, “Do you mean to tell me that if I don’t repent of my sins and call upon this man Jesus to save me, that one day, I’ll go to a devil’s hell and burn forever?” The preacher answered, “Yes sir, I believe that.” He said, “It’s a lie, you don’t believe any thing of the kind.” The preacher questioned, “Why do you say I don’t believe that?” The lawyer said, “Look, you’ve been in my home for a full week, and have not even mentioned Christ to me. You haven’t tried to get me saved from hell. If I believed what you say you believe, I’d get on my hands and knees to crawl from where I live to where you live, and weep night and day until I got you saved from Hell. II.
